Here you have a truly one-of-a-kind and rare fly fishing net made from avocado burl. Avocado is an extremely light weight wood once dried (think balsa wood,), and is rarely found containing Burl. I feel extremely lucky to have come across this piece which was salvaged from a firewood lot in Southern California. Once the wood was stabilized to make it stronger and harder, it was further strengthened by laminating it to a piece of. The bark inclusions were all cleaned out and inlaid with copper. It is paired with a gorgeous hoop made from bubinga, wenge, and salvaged mahogany.
